Noticeably, the discussion around revascularization in the patient with critical limb ischemia (CLI) is quite different than with claudication. Revascularization is one component of the coordinated, multi-disciplinary effort to minimize loss of tissue, achieve complete wound healing, preserve the function of the lower-extremity, and reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Assuming the limb is salvageable, the patient should be revascularized.
