Lower extremity revascularization for claudication and critical limb ischemia (CLI) are quite distinct from one another. Revascularization efforts in both disease states aim at enhancing arterial perfusion to the lower extremity and often incorporate similar tools and techniques to achieve this. However, the urgency, strategy, goals, and the established markers of procedural success are considerably different between the two disease states. As such, revascularization for claudication and CLI are described separately below.
